Thank you for your interest in participating in this feedback survey for the Old Age Security Benefits Estimator. This is a privacy notice statement, which will explain how we may use the information you provide us.
Who we are
The Service Experience Design and Delivery (SEDD) Group is part of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). Our mission is to develop and facilitate the use of digital technologies, practices, and data to deliver services that are focused on and personalized to the needs of users. This team is creating an Old Age Security Benefits Estimator that will increase awareness and transparency around the benefits and eligibility requirements; and will provide residents of Canada with a dignified and empowering experience as they plan their retirements.
Activity
ESDC considers it essential to get feedback from members of the general public who may eventually use the products and services we are developing. In this activity, we ask potential users to complete the online form for the Old Age Security Benefits Estimator and then to answer up to 7 questions about the experience. Your responses will help us improve our design.
The outcome for the research activities will be a record of research findings, organized by general theme related to the Old Age Security Benefits Estimator. The outcome of the activity is to improve the efficacy of user services of the ESDC by incorporating the user’s perspective in the building of those services.
What we will collect
If you choose to participate in this research activity, your participation will require that you provide the researcher with personal information, including: your opinions about the Old Age Security Benefits Estimator and your experience completing the online form.
This information will help us improve this early version of the Old Age Security Benefits Estimator. Your views on the tool and the experience of using it will be valuable input to our design and development process. You will be helping ensure that we create a tool that achieves our goals.
The collection and use of this information is authorized and under the authority of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), in accordance with Section 39 of the Department of Employment and Social Development Act for program analysis, research and evaluation purposes.
How we will use this information
The personal information collected by this feedback survey will be reviewed and analysed by the Project Team. Recommendations for improvements will be considered for integration into the design and developers will execute the improvements.
Your information may be disclosed, without additional consent from you to all members of the Old Age Security Benefits Estimator team, and to a small number of members of the SEDD Group. The ESDC Interactive Fact-Finding System (IFFS) team who is assisting in the building and managing of the online form will also be handling your information during these activities.
Your information will not be used for any decision-making process that relates to your use of or access or entitlement to any Government of Canada services.
Protection of Your Information and Your Legal Rights
The personal information we collect as part of Old Age Security Benefits Estimator Feedback Survey is included in Personal Information Banks such as Outreach Activities (PRN 904), as described in ESDC Info Source. You have the right to the protection of, access to, and correction of your personal information. Instructions for obtaining access to your information are outlined in ESDC Info Source. Info Source may also be accessed online at any Service Canada Centre. Additional instructions for obtaining your information are outlined in the government publication entitled Information about on programs and information holdings, which may also be accessed on-line at any Service Canada Centre.
Your information will be retained by the SEDD team for the duration of this research activity, up to the end of 2024. It will be stored and protected in accordance with relevant TBS and ESDC information management and protection of personal information security policies.
Participation in this feedback survey is completely voluntary. If you decide to end your participation at any time, no further personal information will be collected from you. After withdrawing, you may decide to allow the researcher to retain and use the information you have provided up to the point of your withdrawal, or you may request your information be returned or destroyed. If you would like your information to be returned or destroyed at any time, to the extent possible. Your decision to withdraw your participation and/or data will have no impact on your current or future use of or access or entitlement to any Government of Canada service; however, if compensation was provided as part of your participation in this feedback survey you will not be compensated if you do not complete the activity.
Should you have any concerns regarding ESDC’s collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information, or concerns regarding ESDC’s handling of any requests to access to this information, or have it corrected, you have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
